he Baptism in the Spirit's effectiveness in reactivating baptism consists in this: finally man contributes his part -- namely, he makes a choice of faith, prepared in repentance, that allows the that allows the work of God to set itself free and to emanate all its strength. It is as if the plug is pulled and the light is switched on. The gift of God is finally "untied" and the Spirit is allowed to flow like a ftragrance in the Christian life.

During the night between Friday and Saturday, in the early morning hours of 10 June 2017, the Lord called back to Him a great man, Father Peter Hocken. He died at the age of almost 85. He was a servant of God, a friend, a priest who loyally served the Body of Christ until his last breath, all the world round. The Lord gave him an extraordinary intellect and wisdom, together with the experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit. He also received from God the talent and ability to provide specific and comprehensible theological explanations and descriptions of spiritual experiences that are taking place within the Church, notably after the Second Vatican Council.

We all know, based on our personal experience, that the cooperation with most intelligent people is not often easy. These people usually do not establish friendship easily. It is interesting also that university graduates with an honour degree usually do not fit in to the working environment in the best way and that their high intellect is of a little help in overcoming personal or marriage crises.

Message - Marek Nikolov
Jesus heals – the creed of our service

On the basis of good results and feedback from participants good results and feedback from participants in the “Jesus Heal” May prayer gathering, we decided to go on with this service and invite further lay fellowships, religious communities, and priests to cooperate with us. We would like to walk together with them in common ministry and unity. That’s why we decided to briefly formulate our conception of this service.

The aim of the “Jesus Heals” prayer gatherings is experiencing the fact that God is Love. He is Love that wants to give itself to other people. God wants to show us His mercy even through healing, signs, wonders, and miracles.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we want to mediate salvation and love of Jesus Christ for the benefit of all people. We want to do this in a living way. We want to encourage everybody to say yes to Jesus’ unconditioned love. We want to encourage everybody to follow Jesus with all their hearts, minds, and strengths.

Jesus shows us his compassionate and merciful love even by healing our physical and psychical diseases through natural and supernatural intervention.

Jesus wants to heal everybody, though probably not always in the same way as we might imagine. For example, we could pray for the healing of two women affected with cancer. One might get healed and the second one could lose her battle, but God will give the latter His peace and strength to accept God’s will. Thus, even the second woman gets “healed”.

The Lord Jesus heals when he wants, whom he wants, and in the way he wants.

Many people come closer to God through crosses and difficult situations. The divine love manifests on the cross and through the cross. By his wounds we are healed. (Iz 53,5)

Jesus came to this world to give us abundant life (Jn 10,10) This new life also includes the strength to carry our everyday cross with serenity and endurance. (Gal 5,22)

It is a secret of God’s ways: God’s love manifest both through crosses and through healing.

Whenever the Lord Jesus heals a person, he calls on him/her to follow him.

If – after being healed – we don’t follow Jesus, our healing is only partial, like in the case of the ten lepers. Only one of them came back to Jesus. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.” (Lk 17, 13- 19)

We are all wounded and we all need healing.

God gave everyone of us the ability to love. Love means healing and care. We are all called to heal people, because we are called to love them.

Healing resides in the fact that in Jesus we love the person for whom we utter healing intercession prayers. People are healed by love.

Healing, signs, miracles, and wonders confirm the authenticity of announced Gospel. The aim of healing is to love and to follow Jesus.

Those who pray for healing other people should be people of faith and should have loving compassion towards those who are suffering. They should pray with faith so that Jesus will heal and bless the given person.

In some situations Jesus requires faith from the sick person, in order to heal him/her. Two blind men desired to be healed by Jesus. He asked them: “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They replied: "Yes, Lord." He touched their eyes and said: "According to your faith let it be done to you"(Mt 9,27-29) ). We also know about a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. When she just touched Jesus, he said: "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering" Mk 5,34 (or in other passages - Mk 9, 23-25, Mt 15,28, Sk 14, 8- 10)

In other occasions, the Lord Jesus heals through the faith of those who bring the sick to him. It is, for example, the case of the four men who brought to him a paralyzed man, by making an opening in the roof (Mt 9,2)

And in other occasions, Jesus heals without intercession and by his own initiative. It is, for example, the case of the man who had been physical and mental invalid for thirty-eight years (Jn 5,5-9)

The Lord heals in a natural way (with the help of doctors), but also in a supernatural way (by his own power).

But even the most intense prayers do not always obtain the healing of all illnesses (KKC 1508)

Even in the case of healing prayers the following rule is applied: “The Holy Spirit flows where it wants to“.

We can define a healing case as “miraculous” only when not even specialized doctors are able to explain the causes of healing. For example, there are several reported cases when tumours or tumour metastases unexplainably disappear before surgical operation. In case of explainable causes of healing, we simply used the word “healing”, which is as well a gift from God (Sir 38,2)

If somebody believes that he/she was healed by the Lord Jesus, he/she has to follow the therapy ordered by the doctors, until the doctor will confirm that the patient is back in good health and that he/she must not be administered the given therapy any longer. The doctor is a gift from God (Sir 38, 1-11)

If we have experienced or we have been witnessing some healing cases, signs, wonders, and miracles, it is good for us to learn how to testimony about what we saw and heard in a right and effective way. We have to witness this before our families, friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and the whole world. We have to glorify God like the leper (the one who unlike the other nine lepers thanked and glorified God). Jesus said he did the right thing.

The Lord also encourages us to be loving, compassionate, and merciful. He does not want us to live individualistically and selfishly. He wants us to live in friendship, love, and fellowship with people who share our same joys and duties. The fulfilment of Jesus’ law is love towards God and towards our neighbour. If love is at the basis of our heart and if we help physically and mentally sick people carry their crosses, then we know for sure that we fulfil the will of God. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ” (Gal 6,2)

The crucial question is: do I believe that God can heal me? Do I believe that Jesus’ healing power can heal other people through my person?

The next “Jesus Heals” prayer meeting will take place in the UPC Centre in Bratislava, on Saturday, 14 October 2017, starting at 15:00..
